Description and features of a split system

In a series of air conditioners ECO Edge includes several models of split systems with different capacities. Their performance in the labeling of a particular device is indicated by the number before the letters HN, which indicates the number of BTU units in thousands.

Ballu air conditioner BSLI-09HN1
Ballu BSLI-09HN1 is an economy class appliance with a maximum power of up to 9 thousand BTU, a rated output of 2600 W and a maximum power consumption of 1.23 kW

The split system under consideration is positioned as a budget technology with high energy efficiency and belongs to the class AND. It can work not only for cooling the air in the room, but also for its heating, drainage and simple ventilation with filtration.

In developing the range of ECO EDGE series, Ballu specialists sought to achieve maximum ease of use of the device.For this, we used the technologies of self-diagnosis and self-cleaning of equipment, as well as automatic defrosting of the unit on the street - Defrost and climate control in a room near the user - iFell.

Options and general arrangement

Model BSLI-09HN1 under the brand Ballu is a classic split system consisting of wall indoor and outdoor units. Moreover, the maximum distance between them is limited to 15 meters. It is not recommended to use pipelines with a longer refrigerant length - the compressor may not cope.

Less model - a short cord
An unpleasant moment BSLI-09HN1, characteristic of many split systems, is a short 2 m power cord at the indoor unit. It usually has to be increased at an additional cost with the help of certified installers, so as not to lose the manufacturer’s warranty

The case of the indoor unit is made of white plastic in a horizontal version for installation. It has a receiver of infrared signals, and inside, in addition to standard units, a temperature sensor is integrated to control room air.

The outdoor unit is also made of UV resistant plastic. Moreover, all working devices inside it have an anti-corrosion coating Bluefin. Air intake into the body is carried out from the side and back - it is impossible to press it too close to the wall. And the air outlet grill with a fan is centrally located outside.

Advantages of inverter technology
One of the main features of Ballu BSLI, the use of inverter technology to control the compressor, which can significantly extend the service life and reduce the overall energy consumption of the split system

Often, an inverter in air conditioners is called an advertising ploy, implying its uselessness and unnecessary expenses for an unhelpful module. However, without it, the compressor constantly has to turn on / off, which entails its inevitable and quick wear.

With inverter control, the compressor motor after switching on is no longer disconnected from the power supply during the day. It only translates into minimum power mode when the required temperatures are reached in the room.

The main breakdowns and wear of the air conditioning compressor occur at the time of its launch. The inverter dramatically reduces the number of such starts. This is where the main advantage of using this technology lies. And in addition, there is still a decrease in electricity consumption in the range of 30-60%. More information about the principle of operation and features of the inverter split system we gave in this stuff.

If the wiring in the house is weak, then the inverter is the very thing that is required. A soft start eliminates power surges at the moments when the air conditioner is turned on. And this means that the load on the electric network is minimal without additional surges.

Technical parameters of the model

Ballu BSLI-09HN1 is powered by a single-phase 220 V network. To control the split system, a remote control with a digital display is included. There are no buttons on the case; switching the air conditioner operating modes is possible only by remote means.

Remote with temperature sensor
The Ballu remote control has a built-in temperature sensor that allows the system to more accurately monitor the microclimate in the immediate vicinity of the user

Violating the indicated temperature conditions is not recommended at all - the internal protection will be triggered, which will lead to malfunction of the compressor.

A detailed overview of the air conditioner in question can also be found in the following video:

Accessories for winter use

To avoid damage, the BSLI-09HN1 must not be turned on when the temperature outside the window is below minus 10 °WITH.

However, for Russian conditions, the developers of Ballu air conditioners have provided a special accessory for heating the external unit. With it, the considered model is allowed to be operated in frosts up to minus 30 ° С, without fear of damage to the device.

Winter kit for outdoor unit
Ballu winter kit is a heating cable for heating the drainage and compressor crankcase, as well as a fan deceleration module

This heating kit fits all Ballu brand split systems with power up to 7 kW. It costs about 2–2.5 thousand rubles. If you plan to use the air conditioner in the winter, then spending money on this device will not hurt.

The nuances of maintenance and operation

The air filter installed in the indoor unit, the model BSLI-09HN1 is electrostatic. Once every two weeks, it is recommended to remove and vacuum it or wash it in warm water. However, he is not able to clean the air from smoke and odors. This filter is designed exclusively for dust collection.

Equipment maintenance can be done on your own. We recommend that you familiarize yourself with the features self cleaning and refueling Freon systems.

External unit maintenance
The external unit of the split system in question should be cleaned of street dirt at least once a year, while conducting a routine inspection and checking the pressure of freon

The device in question from Ballu can work in several modes:

  1. Turbo super - cooling at maximum power until reaching +16 ° C in the room.
  2. iFell - microclimate control is carried out through a temperature sensor in the remote control, and not in the indoor unit.
  3. Sleep - low noise mode for night operation.

The unit fan speed in the room is regulated in three variations - high, medium and low.

For the iFell function to work as expected, the control panel must be:

  • far from direct sunlight and heat sources;
  • at a distance of less than 7 m from the indoor unit;
  • not under the stream of air from the split system;
  • away from devices with strong electromagnetic radiation;
  • in a conspicuous place, and also without obstacles in the form of curtains or furniture between the remote control and the infrared signal port on the air conditioner case.

Using the remote control, you can also set one of the three basic modes of operation of the air conditioner (Heating, Drain, Cooling) or set the automatic version of operation. In the latter case, the split system itself will begin to select the desired mode, automatically maintaining the optimal microclimate parameters.

Pros and cons of the model

If we summarize the user reviews of Ballu BSLI-09HN1, then the following picture emerges. Among the positive aspects of the air conditioner under consideration are its cheapness, profitability, low noise in the room and the ability to work on heating.

But the disadvantages of the owners of this split system indicate much more.

High cost of spare parts and poor service
The main disadvantage of BSLI-09HN1 is the problems with spare parts, it takes a long time to wait for them when the air conditioner breaks, but they are far from cheap

Among the negative sides of the device in question are:

  • lack of backlight on the remote control;
  • high noise of the external unit;
  • retardation in a couple of minutes when turned on for heating;
  • poor build quality and cheap Chinese components;
  • Constant reset when problems occur on the board - you cannot do without its replacement;
  • the absence in reality of remote control of horizontal blinds, although there is such a button on the remote, but you have to adjust them manually.

But the main point is the compressor. According to the brochures, it should be a Japanese high-performance unit from Toshiba, Hitachi or Sanyo.However, often instead they put a compressor of dubious Chinese origin from a joint venture. Such a node fails much earlier. Features of the diagnosis and repair of the compressor, we examined in next article.

Also, problems often arise from the side of the external unit. The copper tubes inside are too close together. When you turn on the compressor and fan, they begin to trite banally.

Before installation, the craftsmen recommend opening this air conditioner and installing sound insulation between the tubes. It also does not hurt to put vibration damping materials under the unit itself before installing it on the brackets.

Comparison with similar devices

The air conditioner Ballu BSLI-09HN1 on the market has a mass of comparable analogues in terms of characteristics and cost. To simplify your choice, we have made a selection of the most suitable replacement options.

Model # 1 - Toshiba RAS-10EKV-EE

This split system from Toshiba will cost 10-15% more expensive than its counterpart from Ballu. But in this case, you definitely buy Japanese equipment, and not fake from China. Also, this device is slightly superior to the air conditioner discussed above in terms of noise and power consumption. However, for this, the consumer receives a more reliable system with additional filters.

Technical specifications:

  • recommended area - up to 25 m2;
  • power for cooling air and its heating - 2500/3200 watts;
  • noise with a working indoor unit - 27 dB;
  • cooling capacity - 10 kBTU;
  • power consumption for cooling / heating - 840/770 watts;
  • air filtration - a pair of filters (the first one is rough cleaning and the second one is fine for odors and allergens).

If you need a proven technique with highly efficient air purification, then it is better to choose this option. She will make a little noise at work a little stronger. But if the house has allergies, then it is difficult to come up with a better option.

Model # 2 - Electrolux EACS / I-09HM / N3_15Y

The Electrolux option is comparable to Ballu's in price (excluding stocks from sellers) and operating power. But in cooling mode, it consumes 5-10% less electricity. It makes a little more noise, but has an additional antibacterial filter.

Technical specifications:

  • recommended area - up to 25 m2;
  • power for cooling air and its heating - 2490/2800 watts;
  • noise with a working indoor unit - 30 dB;
  • cooling capacity - 9 kBTU;
  • power consumption for cooling / heating - 777/775 watts;
  • air filtration - the main pre-filter and additional antibacterial.

If the focus is on saving electricity or the electrical system in the house is old, then the choice should be stopped on this less energy-intensive model of air conditioning from Electrolux.

Model # 3 - GREEN GRI / GRO-09IH

This model is also made in China. However, reviews on this manufacturer are more positive than Ballu. According to the characteristics, both options are almost identical. Only in terms of noise the device is inferior to the above technology. However, this air conditioner costs a couple of thousand cheaper.

Technical specifications:

  • recommended area - up to 25 m2;
  • power for cooling air and its heating - 2600/2650 watts;
  • noise when running int. block - 30 dB;
  • cooling capacity - 9 kBTU;
  • power consumption for cooling / heating - 810/730 watts;
  • air filtration - high purification filter.

If there is a desire to save as much as possible and there is no prejudice to manufacturers from China, then this option is preferable. With completely similar characteristics, it costs less than the Ballu split system in question.

Conclusions and the best deals on the market

If you need inexpensive air conditioning in the office or living room or kitchen in the apartment, then Ballu BSLI-09HN1 is the best option.

But for a bedroom, such a device should not be taken. Even in Slepp night mode, it makes a lot of noise. And the real life of this split system in practice is low. A three-year warranty helps in many respects, but in case of breakdowns, it often takes a long time to wait for replacement parts.
