Using new materials and technologies allows you to vary the size of the bathtubs and their shapes. The presence of oversized models makes it possible to manipulate the space of the shower room, which contributes to the convenient placement of a washing machine, heated towel rail and other items necessary for everyday use.

Knowing the standard geometry of the products, you can plan the placement of plumbing in advance, providing ease of access and ease of use of equipment. This is especially true when arranging compact bathrooms, agree?

In the article we described in detail the most popular sizes of bathtubs of different configurations, as well as recommendations on the selection and placement of plumbing.

A variety of shapes and sizes

In practice, to install the bath you need to know the following indicators:

  • the shape of the product in the plane;
  • length
  • width
  • the position of the drain holes.

All other parameters, such as depth and bowl height, the width of the sides or the angle of inclination of the walls do not affect the installation of the bath and the ease of access to other objects in the room.

However, when analyzing the dimensions (including height), you need to make sure that the item will pass through the doorway and that it can be deployed for installation at the planned location.

In Soviet times, the typical layout of apartments was practiced, including the area and location of bathrooms and showers. Standards have been developed that establish several standard sizes for rectangular bathtubs. Now the variety of dimensions and shapes of products has increased significantly.

Bath parameters in the diagram
The diagrams always indicate the distance from the drain hole to the floor. It must be such that the water completely leaves the system, otherwise the latter will have to be redone

The production technology of polymers allows mass and inexpensive to produce bowls of various geometries. However, still the most popular are the usual classic rectangular bathtubs.

The second most sought-after species are angular symmetric and asymmetric bowls.With a shorter length relative to rectangular analogues, they can have the same volume, so they are often used in the case of significantly limited space.

Left and right asymmetric bathtub
An “L” (left) or “R” (right) index is added to the model name of the asymmetric corner bath. When buying, it is important not to confuse the orientation of the purchased item (+)

Oval and round products, on the contrary, do not save room space. They claim originality and exclusivity, therefore, are also in constant demand. Bathtubs of other forms - diamond-shaped or non-standard, are most often found in design options.

An interesting solution for compact bathrooms - short baths. Mini-models perform their main function without cluttering up the useful centimeters of the room.

Plumbing manufacturers have identified the most popular bathtub dimensions for buyers. This was expressed in the mass production of such products, which led to their reasonable price.

Since no standard now exists, a study was conducted on the assortment of several large stores and one popular aggregator of goods in order to identify the typical sizes of the models offered for sale.

Popular types of acrylic bathtubs

Creation technology acrylic products casting allows you to produce objects of almost any shape. This led to the presence on the market of many bathtubs with a wide variety of dimensions.

Classic rectangular products

The popularity of the rectangular shape of large interior items is caused by the possibility of compact installation along the walls, and their dimensions are selected based on the functionality and purpose of the product.

There are two standard values for the width of acrylic bathtubs in a classic form, which are most often found on sold models: 70 and 80 cm. The most popular lengths are 150 and 170 cm.

The following tables provide examples of models corresponding to the length and width that are specific to this row or column.

Dimensions of rectangular acrylic bathtubs
The standard step in length is 10 cm, and in width - 5 cm. Sometimes manufacturers do not withstand exactly these values, allowing a slight deviation in size

Typical rectangular acrylic bathtubs are inexpensive. To show possible combinations of length and width, models with a cost of less than 50 thousand rubles were analyzed. But even with this condition, in view of the large selection, it is quite simple to choose a suitable copy.

Angular symmetric and asymmetric models

Another popular type of bath geometry among buyers is the corner. Topologically, such an object is identical to a right-angled triangle, in which the legs are adjacent to the walls, and the hypotenuse has an uneven convex shape.

Corner bathtub placement
Unlike a rectangular product, the slant of a corner not adjacent to the walls allows you to improve the approach to other objects in the room

By the length of the corner bath is understood the longest side, and by the width - the shortest. For symmetrical objects, these two parameters coincide.

Market analysis showed that in the price range up to 50 thousand rubles, such products can be found with side sizes from 120 to 165 cm:

  • Relisan Polina (120 cm);
  • Triton Cindy (125 cm);
  • Alpen Sirius (130 cm);
  • Bas Riola (135 cm);
  • HusKarl Gerda (140 cm);
  • Bach Scat (145 cm);
  • Santek Cannes (150 cm);
  • Aquanet Polaris-2 (155 cm);
  • Triton Sabina (160 cm);
  • Aquanet Bellona (165).

Moreover, the size step is not necessarily a multiple of 5 cm. For example, the width of the bath Triton Medea equal to 142 cm.

For asymmetric models, unlike rectangular analogs, the calculation of free space after installation is not so simple. The irregular shape of the outside requires careful application of the contour of the object to the floor plan. But finding a specimen with the right length and width is not difficult because of the wide variety of products of this type.

Dimensions of asymmetric acrylic bathtubs
Dimensions of asymmetric acrylic bathtubs are most diverse among all other forms. Finding the right product in geometry is easy

The analysis showed that it is easy to find specimens with a length of 140, 150, 160, 170 and 180 cm. Models with an intermediate length are less common. The width value for asymmetric products starts from 75 cm.

On the example of asymmetric products, you can see how different the sizes of acrylic bathtubs are. There are more expensive and rarely found models that are not included in the study, the dimensions of which are larger than those shown in the table.

Oval and round bowls

Round-shaped acrylic bowls are not compact in their placement. Buyers of such products usually do not experience problems associated with a lack of space in the room where the bath will be installed. Such models are often equipped with hydromassage device and other technical solutions.

The design of such bathtubs is also often original, and their installation is not always as simple as installation of acrylic bath rectangular shape. To analyze the existing sizes, models worth up to 200 thousand rubles were selected.

The dimensions of round objects in the plane are expressed in terms of the diameter value:

  • Gemy G9230 K (150 cm);
  • BelBagno BB30 (155 cm);
  • Vayer Boomerang (160 cm);
  • Alpen Oblo (165 cm);
  • 1Marka AIMA Design Omega (180 cm);
  • Gemy G9090 (190 cm);
  • Gemy 9060 (210 cm).

The most popular diameter for round bathtubs is 180 cm. In total, 7 models with this parameter were found.

Another variety of bowl shapes is oval. Products of this geometry can be more rationally fit into the room than round ones, but at the same time they also claim to originality.

The cost of the following copies does not exceed 100 thousand rubles.

Dimensions of oval acrylic bathtubs
In the ratio of length and width, oval acrylic bathtubs do not have any regularity. You can find both relatively narrow proportions and fairly wide products

The geometric parameters of oval baths are not necessarily multiples of 5 cm. For example, a rather expensive and original model GemyRF1253BG has dimensions of 238 * 88 cm.

Modern cast iron products

With the advent of the alternative in the form of steel and then polymer baths, popularity cast iron products decreased. However, their market share is still high.

This is due to their main two advantages:

  1. Strength. To break a cast-iron bowl or at least break off a piece from it, incredible efforts must be made. The most common problem with physical exposure is just damage to the enamel.
  2. Thermal inertia. Significant heat capacity of cast iron leads to the fact that the water will cool more slowly than in an acrylic bath.

It is also necessary to note two main disadvantages:

  1. Weight. Transportation and installation of a cast-iron bath will require considerable effort.
  2. Lack of variety of forms. The bowls have a rectangular (sometimes slightly rounded) geometry.

Due to the large number of manufacturers of plumbing, cast-iron bathtubs do not have standard sizes, but their dimensions nevertheless fit into a certain sequence. For the study, affordable specimens were selected, costing no more than 50 thousand rubles.

Dimensions of cast-iron bathtubs
There is some dependence of length on width for models made of cast iron - wide, but short baths were not found for sale

The greatest variety of models can be observed in medium-sized bathtubs: 150 * 70 cm and 170 * 70 cm.

Also, almost everywhere you can find both small specimens with a size of 120 * 70 cm, as well as more massive ones with parameters of 170 * 80 cm.

Conclusions and useful video on the topic

Placement of rectangular bathtubs. The choice of sizes and shapes of angular models depending on the parameters of the room:

The presence of many manufacturers of bathtubs and a large selection of shapes has led to the fact that, as such, standard sizes do not exist. However, the tables given in the article give an idea of what are the dimensions of the models depending on their type. This allows you to choose the product of the desired geometry for almost any room.

    Helpful information. When I was building a house, I pounced: I bought a bathtub made of cast iron and somehow I did not think at all to pre-measure that room, that the bath itself. The seller said that the sizes are standard, she will get into any bathroom. Well, but during the installation it turned out that it is too large. So, a standard bath will only rise in a standard apartment, and in other cases everything needs to be carefully measured.

    In any case, it is necessary to measure. Standards, standards, but anything can be. Measure seven times, cut once (in our case, buy). Still, the bathtub is a rather heavy and bulky item. It will be very unpleasant if you buy it, bring it home, lift it up the stairs, but it turns out that it does not fit you in size. Therefore, do not be shy to go to the store with your measuring tape.
